The Ischia Island coastline comes to over 20.6 miles, this including cliffs, beaches (sandy and rocky alike) and caves. Diving, angling and water sports in general, are all practised here, with many boat excursions available.

Beaches are plentiful on Ischia Island and varying in facilities and appearance. Cartaromana is a sandy beach about 300m long, near Ischia Ponte, with thermal springs which exit into the sea and make the sea water very hot in parts. You can get here by road or by boat from the pier. Facilities include bathing establishments, sun bed hire, bars and restaurants.

Citara beach is situated in Forio, near Punta Imperatore and has a great aspect for sunbathing and a calm sea. On the beach there is the Poseidon Thermal Garden which has sea and thermal water swimming pool. Facilities include various bathing establishments, water sport facilities, bars and restaurants.

The longest beach on Ischia island is in Barano called Maronti beach, measuring 2 miles. It is located between Capo Grosso and Sant’Angelo, surrounded by hills. You can get to this beach from Barano by road or by taxi-boat from Sant’Angelo harbour. Facilities include bars, restaurants, water sports diving as well as bathing facilities.

Other beaches include Lido D’Ischia, Sant’Angelo, Cava Grado, San Francesco Beach, Casamicciola Terme Beach and Spiaggia degli Inglesi.
